WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Wofford College men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed on Saturday at the Mondo College Invitational hosted at JDL Fast Track. Wofford had numerous top ten finishes, including a victory in the women's 4x400 relay.
In the field events,
Ellie Sawicki was seventh in the shot put at 11.49 meters. In the men's pole vault,
Joey Swick was second by clearing 4.00 meters. For the women in the pole vault,
Olivia Burroughs was third at 3.25 meters and
Pamela Ann Pope was fifth at 2.95 meters.
Sherika Christie was second in the high jump with a personal-best 1.65 meters and
Ava Cooper was eighth at 1.55 meters. Patrick Green was second in the men's triple jump with a distance of 13.68 meters. In the women's weight throw,
Dani Emmen (14.09m) and
Ellie Sawicki (13.64m) were eighth and ninth respectively.
For the men in the track events,
Andrew York (9:14.59) and
Will Berger (9:14.76) were tenth and eleventh respectively in the men's 3,000 meters. In the men's 400 meters,
Nigel Ransby was eighth at 54.05 in the open race and
Thomas Stamper was tenth in the seeded event at 52.59. The men's relay team in the 4x400 relay was fifth overall in 3:33.05.
In the women's track events,
Taylor Jennings-Ward (59.45) and Tangela Green (1:00.36) were third and fourth respectively in the seeded 400 meters. In the finals of the 60-meter hurdles, JaKayla Campbell was third at 8.94.
Ella Tennant added an eighth-place finish in the finals of the 60 meters at 7.89. In the 800 meters,
Dannielle King (2:19.78) was fourth and
Kristen Hallman (2:29.69) was eighth.
Taylor Jennings-Ward added a third place in the open 200 meters with a time of 26.11, while
Ella Tennant was fifth in the seeded 200 meters at 26.09. The women's 4x400 relay was won by the Terriers in 4:02.58.
The meet featured over 30 teams competing, including Elon, UNCG, Wake Forest, and Wofford.
The Terriers will be back in action next weekend at the Brant Tolsma Invitational hosted by Liberty University on January 23 and 24.
