Spartanburg, SC – Wofford softball celebrated its inaugural game in front of a standing room only crowd but was unable to overcome the Eastern Kentucky Colonels 9-0 in game one of the Terrier Invite.
For the first four innings of play, freshman starting pitcher
Abby Greenwood held EKU at bay, surrendering only three hits and tallying the program's first ever strikeout in the second inning and first ever three up, three down in that same inning. Greenwood was tagged for four runs in the fifth inning, getting lifted in favor of freshman
Kendall Wylie- who was able to work an inning but surrendered five more runs (only four earned) before sophomore
Margaret Axelson came in to record the final Terrier out of the night.
Wofford still has two games remaining in the pool play portion of the invite- first playing Robert Morris tomorrow, February 9, 2024, at 5:30 PM before taking on George Mason on Saturday, February 10, at 12:30 PM. Tomorrow's game can be seen on ESPN+ but Saturday's game will not be streamed- fans are encouraged to follow along on social media for all of the updates on Wofford Terriers softball.
