Charlotte N.C.- The Wofford women's lacrosse team was defeated by Queens University by a 16-7 score on Monday afternoon at the Queens Sports Complex. After keeping the game tied at 2-2 through the early second quarter, the Royals were able to take an 8-5 lead into the halftime break. That lead grew as Queens outscored the Terriers 8-2 in the second half.
After Queens opened the scoring in the first quarter,
Addison Witkowski evened up the score at 1-1. That would be all the scoring in the first quarter.
In the second quarter Queens scored the first two goals to take a 3-1 lead before
Ainsleigh Mancini cut that deficit to one.
Emma Stalteri added one for the Terriers as well, but not before Queens had gotten the lead up to three.
Witkowski would score her second and third goals of the game before the end of the half but Queens took an 8-5 lead into the break.
In the third quarter Queens outscored Wofford 5-0 and was able to hold the lead the rest of the way.
The Terriers added two goals in the fourth quarter but Queens was able to close out the 15-7 win.
The win in goal went to Carolina Kraemer who allowed five goals and made five saves in 29 minutes.
Aislinn Washburn got the loss with eight goals allowed and six saves.
