SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford women's tennis team fell to ETSU, 6-1, on a windy Thursday morning at Reeves Tennis Center.
 
The loss evens up the Terriers record at 10-10 this season.
 
The Buccaneers took care of Wofford in doubles by winning all three matches. ETSU's Marina Espana and Ioanna Markesini took their match, 6-1, at no. 1. Minutes later, the Bucs clinched the first point of the match with a 6-1 win at the no. 2 position, before also taking the match at no. 3 by a 6-2 score.
 
ETSU carried its momentum into singles play, starting with a 6-1, 6-1 win from Alory Pereira in the no. 3 spot. The Bucs put themselves within one point of clinching the match on Espana's 6-1, 6-3 win at the no. 2 position.
 
In the no. 1 position, Catherine Martin battled but fell to Markesini, 7-5, 7-5 to give ETSU the match.
 
Taylor Carlson rallied to take the second set after dropping the first, but ETSU's Melissa Esguerra prevailed 6-1, 3-6, 6-3.
 
The Terriers put their first point on the board, as Lauren Reid took down Yi Chi Ma, 7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (7-4) by taking two tiebreaks. The Buccaneers took the final point of the match, as Jayde Viccars won, 6-2, 3-6, 7-6 (7-5), taking the third set tiebreak to defeat Curran Carver.
 
Up next, the Terriers will host Western Carolina this Saturday, April 8 at 2 p.m. After the match, Wofford seniors Catherine Martin, Kalli Karas, Taylor Carlson, and Emily Erickson will be honored for their contributions to the program.
