GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Wofford men's tennis team fell, 5-2, at UNCG in their final regular season match of the season.
 
Despite taking the doubles point, the Terriers dropped five of the six singles matches to the Spartans.
 
The loss concludes Wofford's regular season at 13-9 overall and 3-4 in SoCon play.
 
All three doubles matches were closely contested, but the Terriers fought to take two of three and gain an early 1-0 advantage in the match. First, at no. 1, Wofford's Haris Poric and Julian Chousa won their match, 7-5. While both the no. 2 and no. 3 doubles matches went to tiebreaks, the Terriers took the first one, with Lucas Cerbelli and Jack Thomas winning, 7-6 (7-3) at no. 3. UNCG took the match at no. 2, 7-6 (7-4).
 
The Spartans took back the momentum after trailing heading into singles play. UNCG took the first five singles matches that finished to win the match, 5-2.
 
First, Warren Bryan won 6-3, 7-5 at no. 4 to even the match at 1-1. Then, Marcus Vidgren won at no. 2, 7-5, 6-3, to give the Spartans their first lead.
 
UNCG continued its momentum when William Albright outlasted Parks Schoen, 6-3, 2-6, 6-2. The Spartans clinched the match when Connor Thompson won a close tiebreaker at no. 1 to defeat Poric, 6-3, 1-6, 7-6 (7-5).
 
With the match already decided, the teams split the remaining two matches at no. 5 and no. 6.
 
UNCG took the match at no. 6, with Jack Burkill winning, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 at no. 6. In the last match, Chousa gave Wofford their only singles win of the day, with a 7-6 (9-7), 4-6, 7-5 victory.
 
Up next, the Terriers will play UNCG again in the quarterfinals of the SoCon Tournament this Friday, April 21 at 9 a.m. The match will take place at the Mickel Tennis Center in Greenville.
