Men’s Soccer Announces Schedule for 2012 Season

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford College men’s soccer head coach Ralph Polson has announced the 2012 schedule, highlighted by seven home contests at Snyder Field.  The schedule includes matches against seven teams that played in the 2011 NCAA Tournament, including defending national champions North Carolina.

The 2012 campaign kicks off with a pair of exhibition matches, with the Terriers hosting Presbyterian College on August 15 before hitting the road to face Clemson on August 18.

The regular season begins on August 25 at Wake Forest, followed by the 2012 home opener on August 31 as the Terriers host Gardner-Webb in the SoCon/Big South Challenge.  Wofford will also take on Winthrop on September 2 in the event.

The Terriers then head to Conway, S.C. to take part in at tournament at Coastal Carolina, facing Florida Atlantic on September 7 and Bowling Green State on September 9.   The road swing continues as the Terriers travel to New York to face Colgate on September 14 and Cornell on September 16.

Wofford returns home for a contest against USC Upstate on September 19 before beginning another four-match road trip at North Carolina on September 25.  The Tar Heels won the 2011 NCAA Men’s Soccer Championship.

The trip continues with a match at Liberty on September 29 before opening Southern Conference play with matches at UNC Greensboro on October 6 and Elon on October 9.  The Terriers return to Snyder Field for a match against Davidson on October 13 before taking a break from SoCon action to take on South Carolina in Columbia, S.C. on October 17.

The Terriers return to league play on October 20 as they host Georgia Southern in the first of a three-match homestand. Wofford hosts Appalachian State on October 23 and Furman on October 27 to conclude the stand.

Wofford closes out the regular season on the road, facing College of Charleston on October 30.
The SoCon Tournament begins November 5, with the opening round taking place at campus sites.  The semifinals and championship will take place November 11 and 13 in Cary, N.C.
