On October 22, when Wofford and Furman renew the oldest football rivalry in South Carolina, the most important drive of the game will have already taken place.
The Wofford College and Furman University Student-Athlete Advisory Committees (SAAC) have teamed up to put their rivalry toward a good cause. The Wofford vs. Furman “Food Fight” canned food drive is a contest is to see which school can collect the most food to fight hunger.
The winning school will be determined by the weight of the cans and a weigh-in for Wofford donations will take place on October 21 inside the Benjamin Johnson Arena during the Terriers volleyball match against Elon.
Wofford donations will go to Spartanburg’s Miracle Hill Mission and The Soup Kitchen.
SAAC members at Wofford will be collecting cans and nonperishable foods on campus October 7 – 21. Donation bins will be located at designated areas and tallies will be kept each day. Alumni from both schools are encouraged to drop off food products during the week. Wofford alumni are asked to drop off donations at the events listed below or during normal business hours for the Burwell Building, Richardson Building and Campus Life Buildings on campus, at Groucho’s Deli in downtown Spartanburg or Chick-fil-A on E. Main Street at Hillcrest.
