AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Wofford women’s golf team opened its 2010 season at the Administaff Lady Jaguar Invitational, hosted by Augusta State University at Forest Hills Golf Club. The Terriers finished eighth in a 14-team field.

Senior Sarah Herbert and freshman Tarah Taylor led the Terriers, finishing tied for 20th with scores of 233 after three rounds of play. Herbert paced the team in the first round with a score of 76 while Taylor led the Terriers in round two, carding a 74.

Junior Alex Rankin tied for 31st individually, recording a three-round score of 237 (78-81-78) and junior Meredith Few tied for 38th, carding a 238 total (80-78-80).

The team finished with a score of 937 (311-315-311) to place eighth out of 14 teams. The tournament field included Southern Conference schools Western Carolina and UNC Greensboro. Coastal Carolina claimed the tournament championship with a team score of 891 (301-299-291). The Chanticleer’s Aruka Felgueroso shot a three-over par 219 to claim the individual title.

Wofford will next compete at the Lowcountry Intercollegiate in Hilton Head, S.C., which the Terriers will co-host with Western Carolina. The tournament will be held at the Moss Creek Golf Course March 13 and 14.
