mo•men•tum : noun
strength or force gained by motion or through the development of events
Momentum is the only way to describe recent events at Wofford. In just the last several days, our men’s basketball team defeated a talented, well coached College of Charleston team in front of a wildly enthusiastic sold-out Benjamin Johnson Arena. Our victory allowed us to claim the South Division Championship and secure the automatic NIT bid. We head to Charlotte for the Southern Conference Basketball Tournament as the #1 seed in the south and will play Saturday, March 6th at 4:00pm. This comes on the heels our of men’s soccer team winning the regular season championship, the Southern Conference Tournament championship, and advancing to the NCAA College Cup.
The only way to continue this momentum is by increasing scholarship support through the Terrier Club. With endowment earnings still lagging, annual Terrier Club gifts are critical to maintain our current level of funding. The Terrier Club raised $1,454,724 in 2009 which actually was a net decrease of almost 2%.
As we kick-off our 2010 Terrier Club Drive, consider making an early gift to the Terrier Club for 2010. Increasing your gift by 10% this year could make a difference in the recruitment of or retention of a student-athlete. An increased annual gift would also help offset the loss of endowment earnings.
In these difficult economic times, Wofford’s student-athletes need you more than ever. Help us keep the momentum alive by making a commitment to the Terrier Club today!
